Strike Vote

Well, for those of you who don't know the Superstore employees from Edmonton and surrounding areas have voted 94% for a strike.

I know that many of you, shop there on a regular basis. I am writing to ask of you that if we do in fact go on strike, that you would not cross the picket lines. The company is not bargining in good faith and offering us very little and wanting to take away a lot.

I have not been very interested or passionate about many union activities in the past but the companies "Final" offer is a joke. While I do not intend to be a Superstore much longer, there are people who support their families on the incomes they recieve from Superstore and in this economy it is not acceptable to ROLL BACK a person's wages when the cost of living is increasing.

Spring Convocation 2008

Well it is official, I now have a University Degree! *Throws her hat*

Today was my convocation from the University of Alberta, it was a day filled with a lot of joy, pride and even a few tears. I am so happy that I am finally done school and incredibly nervous to face adulthood.

The day was long but it was so worth it to walk across the stage in front of my family and celebrate my successes and four years of hard work! It was also nice to be able to share this day with Steve who also celebrated his convocation as well today.

I think the moment that got to me the most, aside from walking across the stage and shaking the hands of all the important people who were up in their fancy chairs, was when the two parents of Education students who had passed away before they were able to celebrate with their family and friends accepted their degrees on their behalf. It was a sad reminder that life can cut short and you never know what could happen, so we need to remember to show those who we love just how much we love them, live life to the fullest, and to have no regrets!

To my family (those related by blood and those who are related by choice!)

Thank you so much for your love and support throughout everything I do. You love me unconditionally and you will never know just how much that means to me. There are not enough words to describe just how much I respect, care for and love all of you. Thank you for the laughs, smiles, and yes even the tears!

It's been a while....

Well folks here I am alive and well and about to enter one of the most stressful times in my life. I am currently in my last semester in school, and about to go into my APT (Advanced Professional Term), which is the make or break time for me if I want to become a teacher. I am nervous and excited to start and just as excited for it to be over. I know that doesn't make much sense but I just know how much work it is going to be.

In other news I am boring. I don't have much going on in my life other then school, work, friends and family. I am not engaged yet, although it seems like everyone else is, but that is ok because we both want to be done our schooling and have a solid foundation to build our life together on. I wish I could fast forward time tho :P That being said I couldn't ask for a better boyfriend. We have been dating for 4 whole years. It doesn't seem like it has been that long. He even took me to Le Ronde, the revolving resturant for our anniversary. The food was SOOOOO GOOD, if I ever find my cord for my digital camera, I will make sure to upload the pictures of us looking all spiffy.

I don't really have much else to say so I will leave you all with some pictures that I should have uploaded a really long time ago! These are pictures from the trip that Ian and I took to Banff over the October long weekend. It was beautiful and we got to just relax and enjoy each other's company. We walked around town, did some hiking, horse back riding, went to the hot springs and even a little "Moutain" Climbing. I think my favorite thing we did was going horse backriding, I really enjoyed it even though Ian was in front of me and his horse had some serious digestive issues! The trip was a nice little birthday present to myself, one that I think we need to do more often. In these pictures you will see Bow Falls, Lake Moraine, Lake Lousie, Sulpher Mountain and us just hanging out downtown.

I'm a big girl now!

Today I bought my first car. I am almost 22 years old so it is probably about time. I bought a 2001 Sunfire. It is a black two doors, with brand new breaks and tires. It is quite cute but I am not sure how I feel about spending all of that money. I am pretty cheap so it came as quite a shock to my system.

I have named her Cele the Sunfire. Cele is short for Celebrity because my license plate starts with the letters LAX just like the airport in Los Angeles.

It is kind of scary though...It is a big step in the adult world. I don't know if I want to grow up just yet.

So tonight I attended the Josh Groban concert. On a bad day a Josh Groban concert would be awesome but seeing as tonight was FREAKING amazing, I feel and look like Abby when she gets excited...complete with squeals and arms and legs straight out.

I could listen to Josh sing me the phone book, dictionary, thesaurus...pretty much anything. He has such an amazing voice and he is quite the looker too so it is a double whammy. Tonight I discovered that he is actually quite funny, in that "I'm nerdy but I totally embrace it" sort of way.

Now we come to the highlight of my night:

Half way through the concert, we hear Josh singing my favorite song from his new album "AWAKE" called "In Her Eyes" but he was not on the stage. Suddenly the spotlight shines on section 116 and he is in the crowd singing. My mom's friend from work was sitting in that section and we were both thinking how lucky she was. He walked through the crowd and I hoped and wished that he would come by us because we had AMAZING seats. Next thing I know Josh FREAKING Groban is like 2 feet away from me singing!

THEN WE MADE EYE CONTACT AND HE SMILED AT ME, COMPLETE WITH EYEBROW RAISE!

(You can ask my mom...totally at me!)

Check this out, it's not while he was looking at me but blame my mom for that, I was trying not to pee myself with excitement!

It was an amazing concert and Josh is totally down to earth, even with the amount of talent he has been blessed with. If you haven't heard of him you should really check him out. I will leave you with some more photos from the concert!

Well I am back from holidays. I am not excited to be back at work but what can you do?

I had a great time, the beach was awesome...not quite the beach bunny I used to be. I can't be on there for 6 hours anymore...it knocks me out. I did manage to get some color and *GASP* tan lines. I burnt but not to bad so I am happy.

While we were there, the kids all went to a dinner and mini golf. We went to Vallarta's which is on the Okanagan Lake side. They have amazing food, so if you are one of the Penticton regulars and haven't been there you should definately check it out! Then we went to Loco Landing, where I came in 2nd place and won a FREE GAME. Watch out Brian, I am coming for you!

Sunday night my sister and I went to HAIRSPRAY! If you have read my blog before you know that I love all things music and I especially love musicals. It was a great movie. Fun and the music was great. I really believe that I was meant to be in a musical! If you want a fun, intelligent, musical, lighthearted movie, I suggest you go see this one. You get to see John Travolta in drag and the hottness that is Zac Efron!

I know that he looks like a baby...but he is just so pretty. Those eyes are amazing!

I know that working at Superstore is not the most glamourous job in the world, but that doesn't mean that I don't deserve a little respect. Yesterday, I could have jumped across my till and just decked a customer because she was so rude. Here is a little play by play of what happened.

After working there for like a billion years, you get a sense of when you just don't talk to people because they are in a bad mood, this was one of those situations.

So this lady, who I shall call Barbie, comes up to my till, complaining the whole time about how she hates to shop at Superstore (the simple solution would be not too...but that is besides the point)

I ring up her groceries: some toys and a couple big boxes that have blow up pool toys etc. She looks at me and asks if if we have any bigger bags. I apoligized and said that we didn't and was about to start on the next customer when she rudely replied :"Well that isn't very convenient" and looked at me like I was responsible for this horrible travesty in her life!

My response to this was that I was sorry but I didn't make the bags, and directed her to a comment card at customer service. Barbie then replied that "No wonder you work at Superstore!" like I was an idiot and this was the only job I was capable of doing (nevermind that I have to memorize about 100 codes for all different produce and bulk)

I can't believe that people can be so rude. I am working there part time to pay for my UNIVERSITY DEGREE. I promtly told her that her comment was uncalled for and directed her to pack her bags and leave the store and to not bother going to customer service and buying her cigarettes. She then told her son that the had to leave because I WAS BEING RUDE!

I get so frustrated when people treat me like dirt because of where I work. Anyways thanks for listening (rather reading) my rant. I had to get this off my chest.

I would love to be able to sing like Christina Aguilera. She is hands down the most amazing singer that I have seen perform live!

Samantha and I attended her concert last night and were blown away. Not only is she BEAUTIFUL but she can sing, honestly and truly sing. I saw Christina last time she was in Edmonton and it is amazing to see how her stage show has changed since the last time she was here!

Black Tuesday

For all of you who may have been concerned about me at around 1:50 pm, please be assured I have not lept off the High Level Bridge. I do however find myself a little less inspired to cheer for my favorite team.

Ryan Smyth has been my favorite player for as long as I can remember and today he was traded to the New York Islanders. I don't believe that this is where he will stay but I am distressed that it maybe a long time until I see Ryan play again as he is now playing out East.

Ryan you were the heart and soul of the team and you will be missed greatly. I am sad that you and the team could not come to an agreement that would work for you and there will be some very big skates to fill! Kudos to you for being respectful to Messier's night and remaining silent on the issue until tomorrow!

I am choosing to take the high road with this post in respect with Ryan's choice! I will be wearing my Smyth pins tonight in protest to this travesty!

I don't know about you but how great would life be if you spontaneously broke out in to song and dance?
No one would be angry for long. How could you when your tone deaf, rhythmically challenged next door neighbour started to tell you about their day by singing and dancing. People would be laughing all the time.
Nothing would be boring anymore either. You could be standing in a ridiculously long line up for say...your passport. In real life this wouldn't be exciting, in a musical, the whole line would actually be a chorus line! Everyone would have their own theme song. It would be FANTASTIC!

Well I am finally posting on here again. Life has just been so crazy that it gets hard to post. Not much down time. My semester is so much different this year. I actually am getting 8 hours of sleep which never happens. My classes start a lot later then they did last semester...There is a big difference between your class starting at 1 pm or 8 am when you are taking the bus to school! Midterms start on Thursday and I hope that I do well on them.

I went with Ian to his faculty's formal on Friday and not too toot my own horn but I think that I clean up pretty well...(a shout out to Caryn for doing my hair). I like getting dressed up and fancy...I don't get to do that nearly as often as I would like. I will post pictures when I get a chance.

Less Stress?

I didn't think this would be possible but I am starting to feel less overwhelmed. I know this feeling will last for just a few short weeks but I am glad for the reprieve. I am done all of my group assignments as of 20 minutes ago and I have a few small papers to finish and hand it. Finals are coming up but I can start to stress about those later. Then we have the MAJOR STRESS...my student teaching. I am so excited about it but incredibly nervous as well. I am so scared that I can gonna finish it and have my mentor teacher tell me that maybe I wasn't cut out for teaching. I know the chance of this happening is slim to none...but I like to worry about things like that. I am lucky that I know so many teachers who can help me or give me some advice on what I am going through...Folks adulthood is almost here!

I know I suck at updating my blog lately but my life has been stupid busy.
Well, work is finally getting better. I am no longer frustrated and I actually have this weekend off and I didn't even have to book it off so I am happy.
My observation went well and I didn't cry or have my head explode so I see it as a positive.
Midterms are done for now...Finals are on the way give in a month or so.
Chrissy, I hope that Fernando comes soon! I tried to talk to it tonight but it didn't seem to work.
If you don't already know I love having Ian here. He makes me unbelievably happy. I was a little worried that he wouldn't like it here or that spending dramatically more time with each other would have us constantly cranky with each other. While I have had cranky moments, I can't think of a time when I have been more happy. Babe, if you are reading this...incase I don't say it enough...I love you. I hope that my actions speak louder then my words.

I hate my job so much!
Does anyone wanna pay me $12.00/hr and I will work 20 or less hours a week?
I am just so frustrated, you would think after working there for over 5 years I would get some sort of respect. NO!
I just get yelled at even though I am trying to be thoughtful and give them some notice that I can't be at work on Monday.
Next time I am just gonna call in sick...better yet call a Personal Emergency Day and laugh because they are missing a cashier and can't do anything about it.
How any more years till I have my degree and can find a job doing something else full time?

Wow it has been a crazy day today. I found out which school that I will being teaching at tonight and I started thinking..."Wow I am on my way to being a real grownup!" In 6 days I will be 21 years old. That means I am legal in every country in the world. I am just over a year from graduating and then I will be out in the real world with a degree...WOW! I am gonna be in charge of the learning of kids...that is such an intimidating thought!

Ian is officially halfway around the world and while I miss him I am so excited because that means we are so close to the two of us living in the same city.

I am back from Penticton after the longest ride home I have EVER experienced.

It was great fun though and I am dreading going back to work tomorrow but I like having money so I am going back to the daily grind.

Well...I am back from the first part of my vacation and I had an awesome time. The weather was great for the most part. However I got eaten alive my mosquitoes. Steve and Sue R. have opened their home and invited him to stay with them in the fall. I am so grateful to them and I cannot thank them enough. I know that Ian is super excited to stay there. Thanks a bunch you guys.

I am so excited vacation is less then a month away. I am so excited I get to go camping with Ian and his friends from Grande Prairie and then I get to spend two weeks with Pentiction with my family. The month of July is going to fantastic. Going back to work and not having any money will not be however.

On my drive home tonight, I was thinking just how lucky I really am.

I truly have a blessed life.
I have amazing friends.
I have friends who I have known forever who know me inside and out. We have had fights, misunderstandings and even though we don't see each other as much anymore, I know they love me and that I love them.
I have friends who are newer and older. They accept me for who I am and never treat me as any less of a person or belittle my opinions just because I am younger. They amaze me and teach me so much. Thank you for opening my eyes about life, love, and faith and for "not interfering". Without you my life would not be the same

I have an amazing boyfriend.
He loves me for me. Ian has never once asked me to become a different person or change in anyway. My happiness is always at the top of his list and I know how incredibly lucky I am to have him. He is my best friend, my other half, and even though this sounds cheesy...He completes me. I can only hope that he knows how much I love him and that I would do anything for him.

I have an amazing family.
My family has always encouraged me and shown me that I can be whatever I want to be. They love me unconditonally and pick me up when I am down. My mother is a wonderful person who has shown me so much and I am proud to say that I am a mini version of her. Speaking of mini versions: Samatha you are a young woman now and I am so in awe of you and how you have grown. My dad is the strong silent type, always there when you need help and it is a relief to know that he is there.

In short, I have a wonderful life. There are tough times but with these people I know that I can make it through. Thank you all so much and I am so blessed that God has put you in my life to help me grow :D

It is so hot. I never thought that on a beautiful day such as today that I would want to be at work but I was so grateful for air conditioning. It is like a sauna outside and it is making me want to go to on my vacation so bad. I can't wait to go swimming in the lake and doing all that great stuff.

Long Time...No Post

Well, perhaps I should post something. Since my life isn't that exciting perhaps I will post a little about my life.

I have been conditionally accepted to the University of Alberta...While I am 85% that my marks are high enough to get in (even get a scholarship hopefully). There is always that scary 15% that I won't.

I am working "full-time" and it sucks already...but what can you do? I need money and I don't want to pay rent so work it is. Waiting for my holidays to start.

My boyfriend was here this weekend. I am not sure what is behind his facsination with hats of all shapes and sizes but according to his mom he has had it since he was little.

We also had Fuel this weekend and had 2 special guests. The first special guests were a choir from Kamloops. They were amazing and at the end of Fuel they did a praise and worship song...an oldie but it was really good. I got my CONDITIONAL ACCEPTANCE letter in the mail today from the U of A

I am quite excited I may have done a little dance around my house when I read the letter. This can not be confirmed nor denied.

This made my so far not so stellar day that much better.

I may not be pumped about switching schools but I am so excited that I got accepted and now my brain has a home in September!

Well I am back from my 5 day trip to Grande Prairie.
I am so proud of my boyfriend I cannot even put into words what an amazing person he is. He has been so strong during this sad time but he hasn't been afraid to let himself be consoled.

I am sorry that I didn't get a chance to know your dad better but I get to see bits and pieces of him in you and that makes me happy.

On a happier note: I love being in Grande Prairie everything is so much more relaxed there. Highlight of my time there was the fire we had. The northern lights were beautiful, there were greens and purples it was AMAZING.

Yesterday I had lunch with Andrew and I had a great time. We have both grown up so much and it makes my day that we can sit down and have a civil lunch together. I don't know if you read blogs Andrew but thanks for the company and conversation. I have changed so much in the past couple years whether people choose to believe so or not. I have matured and come to realize that some people are actually wonderful people who deserve my respect and others are two-faced and deserve none of my time and I am sad for those people that they cannot let go of issues from the past. Some people will not accept that I am not the same person I was when I was 16. I am my own person who can make her own decisions. I am not automatically going to dislike or like someone just because those around me don't. If you still choose not to like me then that is your loss. I cannot wait for Ian to move here, I know that we will both be super busy with school and commitments but some how just knowing that he will be in the same city as me makes my day.
I cannot wait to be able to see him when I am upset and to be able to be there for him in person for any of his struggles.

I was walking home today and as I was walking I ran into Brandon, who is Samantha's boyfriend, and one of his friends. I said my "Hello's" and kept on walking. When Brandon got home he called my sister and told her a story that she thought was funny and then she passed the phone to me and Brandon proceeded to tell me this story:

As I walked up behind them Brandon's friend kept turning around and told Brandon that there was a hot girl behind them and that he thought that she was their age (They are 15). He kept going on and on and when I got closer, Brandon realized that it was me...he said "Hello" and his friend got all embarrassed and said "Crap...you know her"

I don't get called "Hot" or even "Good Looking" very often by people who are not Ian so it was a huge ego boost and made my day...Yep folks I may be old but I still got it :P

I took this picture today as I was walking home from my bus stop today. I can't believe how much snow has fallen. It is hard to tell from that angle but the snow was almost up to the top of my boots. I love how everything looks when it is full of snow...I just hate how wet everything gets when it melts.

Tonight was one of the best nights I have had at work in a long time.

Why was it that great? I stopped a lady from stealing $1383.65 worth of groceries. My store manager had me write a report and he is going to send it in to the powers that be. So hopefully that will equal big money for me.

Beauty and the Beast...Spousal Abuse?

So I am in an English class at Grant MacEwan based on Children's Literature and right now we are focusing on Folk and Fairy Tales. We got on the the topic of Disney movies today and I didn't realize just how many people out there think that Disney movies should not be watched by children because it will cause horrible negative reprecussions.

I, however, am not one of those people. For those who don't know me I am a huge Disney nut. I love everything Disney especially the old school movies. In our discussion today they brought up Beauty and the Beast which was critically acclaimed and nominated for an Oscar. Some of the people in my class thought that this movie promoted spousal abuse and encouraged young girls to stay with their abusive partners because he would eventually become this good person. I don't know about you but I don't remember thinking anything other then..."Gee I didn't know that the Prince would turn out to be cute!"

When I tried to raise the point that people thought those things because they were purposely looking for the negative aspects in movies, they shot me down saying that these movies are harmful to children. I responded by saying that if YOU parent your children and not the TV then even if your children pick up on a "negative" then you can show them that it is wrong and help them to realize that it is JUST A STORY.

Anyways my whole class with exception of a small few now thinks that I am a completely naieve with visions of sugar plums and fairy dust clouding my vision of the real worlds and way things really are.

I would like to think that I am not naieve I know that alone these movies could perhaps lead some children to think the wrong thing but I choose to look on the positive side of things that they are a good hour and a half of song and drama.

So I haven't posted in like forever and I am sorry but I have been crazy busy with Christmas and all those good things. So I have been puppy sitting since Thursday and things have been going well but Ian has gone home and now I am bummed. It is sad really he probably has just left Spruce Grove and I am upset that he is gone. It doesn't help that I feel so guilty, I don't know why but this week has been full of mood swings and I feel terribly for the way I acted. Does anyone else have that happen? I dunno I know that I should go to bed but I am just so bummed out that I don't want to and to top it all off I have to spend tomorrow all alone it is going to be horrible but hey what can you do?

Well folks, this day was coming, I knew that it would eventually, it was inevitable
The day that I bombed a major exam and boy did I ever. I had my Math 160 exam today, I knew that I wasn't going to ace it but I am dissapointed in my performance today. I am pretty sure that I have blown my GPA for this semester with this stupid exam too. Frick...At least I knew that I was going to suck at this class. When I went into this class I thought "Sweet, elementary math...This is going to be a cake walk" Or not this is math that Steph would understand but dumb old me...NEVER. I don't know why I am so bad at math...I just don't understand it and that explains why I suck at theory. I think I need opinion based work in order to excel. I want my English classes back :(

Well folks, I just thought that I would give you a little update on my life since it has been a while since I posted last.
I have completed two exams of the four that I have to write and I am feeling cautiously confident about my performance on them. I don't think that I have I aced them all I am hoping for over 75% on the ones I have written so far: Peds 293 and Psyc 105. The big test will be on Thursday, my Math 160 exam...for those of you who don't know...I suck at math...I detest math and thought that I was going into an easy class...I was wrong. So keep you fringers crossed for me between 9-11 on Thursday morning.
In non - school related news, Saturday is shaping up to be the longest day ever but that is ok because I am pumped for every minute of it.

Rant #2

Wow not only do I hate my professor but I also hate Roger's Mobility. In the month of November I didn't recieve a bill so when I called in on November 18th saying that my bill should be due soon and I haven't recieve it and and they replied..."You have a balance on -0.66 cents" I was suprised but thought nothing of it. Last week I finally recieved my bill for the month of October and it came to $46.79 saying that is was due December 17th. Today in the mail I recieve ANOTHER bill saying that I owe $46.79 IMMEDIATELY (not the 17th as stated in my last bill) and that on top of that I owe them $49.92 for the month of November due that's right folks 2 DAYS BEFORE CHRISTMAS. I was not impressed and called customer service who transferred me to a wench in accounts payable who did absolutly nothing for me. I know you are all saying "Megan you should be nicer you work in retail"...she was a wench...I acted the way she did then I would have no problem with someone calling me a wench. Now I can pay the bill...money is not the issue but I dont' think that I should be penalized for their mistake. I mean who wants to spend $100 on something right before Christmas. I can think of more deserving cause or people that deserve my money rather then Rogers Wireless. So I called customer service again and got a nice man named Jonathon who actually listened to me and is crediting my my value pack for the next few months (that is my caller id, and text message package), which I better recieve because if I don't I might go postal. Wow, ever have a feeling like life is against you. If you have taken the time to read my rant I thank you and if not that is ok too but I need to get it off my chest.

How much I cannot stand my Psych professor? The man is just a horrible teacher. Friday he told us that we were having class this morning and that we were going to cover important things that would be on the exam taht we hadn't had time to cover. So I get to school and go down to my class and what do I see on the door a "Cancelled" sheet on the door. So now I am going to be missing out on things that I am supposed to know for the test that he is not going to take off the exam. I am sure he just decided that there was to much snow on the ground to grace us with his presence.
I am done ranting now.
I cannot wait for Ian to come down. I am so excited it feels like forever since the last time I saw him. I am not looking forward to being at the bus depot for 6 am but the things you do for the people you love :P
I am still riding high after Saturday night it was pretty amazing. I just want to thank Uncle Bob for inviting me, it was one of the best nights that I have had in a really long time.

Then when I got home I had a message waiting for me from Bob asking me if I would like to go to the Oilers game against Boston. Of course I said yes. Seriously is it just me or do people turn off their nice switch the minute the thought of Christmas comes around. I hate to admit it but these are my least favorite 2 months of the year...I become bitter and jaded. I just have some advice to all the Christmas shoppers out there:

There are going to be line-ups and you are not the only person who is waiting in them, breathe and enjoy the music.

If the cashier makes a mistake don't not go to them and scream this will get you no where...they will get defensive and be less obliged to help you out.

Now that that is off my chest. How is everyone doing it has been a long time since my last post. Even thought I sent out emails to those who have had a birthday. Happy Birthday to: Auntie Fran, Jason, Bethany, and Kim.

Hey all I am back from the Great White North. I had an awesome time I will fill you all in on all the stories later when I see you face to face. I can not think of a time that I have been happier in a while.
Have I ever mentioned that I am dating an amazing man? Well incase you have never heard me say that, he is amazing and I am so lucky to be dating him. I love to be able just to see him and hang out and do whatever we want. He is just so talented and generous but I'll stop gushing now
Has anyone seen the big beaver in Beaverlodge?...cuz I have...has anyone seen a 5- way stop?...because I have! I had so much fun this weekend and I love Ian's friends they always make me feel welcome and let me be part of their group. They don't treat me with velvet gloves just because I am the "girlfriend". We did bonfires, shopping, movies, bible study and youth group. I decided to be "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon" and take on Kyle, Ibby, and Trent, if you ever decide that you think that you can take on 3 boys who are way bigger then you in a fight...don't you will probably lose but I gave them the "1-2 combo" which was dedicated to Christine Gallimore :D
I also bought the new Casting Crowns CD...it is amazing. I know some of you might be rolling your eyes going "DUH...Welcome to Obviousland...population everyone but Megan!" but seriously this is an amazing CD. I am not normal someone who listens to much Christian Music because I find some of it to be cheesy but "Lifesong" is an amazing CD...I will bring it to Fuel on Wednesday.

Hockey Happy

So last night was a great night...not only did I not work for the first time in what felt like forever but I got a phone call from Tom Lobb asking if we wanted to use his hockey tickets for the game that night. I took my Daddy (yes I am 20 and I still say Daddy) to the game and we had an awesome time. We had great seats and it turned out to be a really good game...even though they lost 5-1 Columbus sure put up a fight so it wasn't just a blow out because even though we score lots...it gets kind of boring . The only annoying thing was the two guys who sat beside us...My dad called him "Mac-T Jr." I am all for being into hockey but I don't want to hear about EVERY single stat on the stats sheet...I don't care who has a left handed shot or that this line has four right handed shooters so this person obviously couldn't have shot the puck because it was a left handed shot. After the game we went to Boston Pizza to talk. It was a great night and I got to have Daddy/Daughter bonding time which I think was the best part.

I had an awesome weekend, I went to a couple of different get togethers and had a good time at all. Some were different then others. I love to see what people are being for Halloween and the more creative the better. At my friend Alexis's party there was a guy who didn't think he could come till the last minute so he wore a white toque and a white garbage bag with assorted garbage attached to it and was White Trash...it was great. I want to commend everyone on the YG costumes this year...very very nice...although Jonah wins for the best costume with Benny coming in a very close second :D
I am so excited for work tonight because little kids come in all dressed up to trick or treat. I love little kids in costumes, I think it is one of the greatest things ever they are even more adorable then usual. Tonight at work will be great because we get to dress up to so I am quite excited even if I am the only person who does it is ok...because I will be the only person who didn't have to wear their uniform!

Ps. I hope you all noticed that you are alive and well after commenting on my blog. You were all spared by the lightening, I think that you should continue :P

I haven't posted in a long time and I don't really have anything to say and I have been giving everybody else such a hard time about not posting I thought I would really quickly.

I haven't worked for the past three days it has been brilliant
I know that I will be working like 7 days in a row starting tomorrow :(
I bought my bus ticket for my November trip for the Great White North
I went and got a refund of my bus ticket because they didn't give me the cheaper fare...I still don't think that I got enough back
I am really excited to go to GP...I haven't been there in almost a year
I am having a pretty day...they don't happen very often I am enjoying it
I am having lunch with Bobert today...looking forward to it
I have Fuel tonight...also looking forward to it
I am pumped for the Halloween parties that I will be attending...It will be a very long weekend

That is the quick update on my life pretty exciting huh? Sorry I can't give you any crazy customer stories but I would have had to have worked to do that :P

I was on the bus today and I sat y a man who was doing what I thought was his devotional or bible study. I thought "Well that's cool...props to the guy for having the guts to do on the bus" Then he started talking to himself...which weirded me out again I thought "Perhaps he is just repeating the verses or maybe even praying...which is cool...I guess...on a public bus it might be polite to do this in your head!" When I looked at the book he was reading I didn't recognize the name of the book...no Matthew, Luke, heck not even Deuteronomy. Then when he got ready to get off the bus he closed his book and it turned out to be the Book of Mormon. I wish I had a better end to the story like him screaming may God have mercy on your souls or something but I found it interesting...sometimes I forget that there are all different religions and they all have their own book of laws and rules.

I was flipping through blogs (I like to do that in my spare time other people fascinate me) and I came across one about contentment. It makes me think. I shouldn't be playing "What if..." that game won't get me anywhere. I need realize that I am where I am supposed to be at this time. God has planned for me to be here, right now in the moment in time and I have to accept it. He has a plan for me and that he will use me in the exact spot he wants me. He surrounds me with people who are there to build me up and make me stronger, he has even brought people back into my life that I didn't every think would be there. It has been amazing to see how a few years has made such a dramatic change. It is a big step for me to put things out there and be "There you go God, this is me, this is what I have to offer and I am gonna let you do with it as you will. Give me the strength to realize that everything has happened for a reason and that you know what you want to do with me." I am not perfect there are things that I am going to want to control and hold on to tight and not give up but I want to see what life would be like with me not stressing about every little thing, giving it up and taking the weight off my shoulders. I wish that I was strong enough to be able to say this all out loud, I have so much to say but I am afraid of what people will think and if they will take me seriously or just think I am up there for show. Writing is cathartic for me, it allows me to express my feelings without having to be worried how others feel. Singing is the same way, when I sing I feel like nothing can phase me. In Fuel there are times when I feel completely at peace, I don't care if I don't sing the right note (If you know me, you know that is a big deal). I want to have a way to carry that faith and joy through out the week all the time. Well, I am gonna make the step and try be content with where I am in life and try to put all my worries no matter how small in the hands of someone who can make even the biggest problems seem like they are insignificant.

Have you ever looked an accident and wonder just how those two (or more) cars came to be in the position they did? That is sort of how I am feeling about my life...I dunnoam I supposed to be here or did I cross into the wrong lane and in danger of crashing at any minute. Ok well now that I have my sillyness out of the way. The accident I saw on the way to school inspired these thoughts.

I am so excited to go to the game tonight...they say absense makes the heart grow fonder so the energy in "Rexall Place" (I still hate that name but I guess it is better then the Gaylord Entertainment Center) should be crazy.
I get to have lunch with Uncle Bob this afternoon. I am pumped we should have some good chats. He is like my second dad, he makes my day
Anyone who want to take my psychology 105 and sociology 100 midterms this friday are more then welcome too...all I need is a promise that you will do better then I would

Wow... I am a 5th of a century today. I feel so old...but that is ok it's not like I am 30 or anything...like some people who shall remain nameless. That is crazy one more year and I can go anywhere and do anything...there is lots of stuff I wouldn't do but the important thing is that I will be able to do it. My favorite part of today is that my parents feel old because they have a daughter who is 20 years old. It's a bummer that my birthday feel on today because I won't be able to enjoy it with family and friends ebcause I have to go to work...I think I should wear a tag that says "It's my birthday, you have to be nice to me!" and then maybe they won't all be so cranky. Well I would just like to give a happy birthday wish to Anne Venebles even though she will probably not see it :D

Muffins, Money and Deep Conversation

Today I was in line at school to buy a muffin for breakfast and when I heard the girl behind me say she didn't have enough for the coffee and muffin I offered to pay the $1.40 for her muffin so that she could have it for breakfast too. I was really looking forward to start the day off nice but alas she turned down my offer. That is ok though I feel good about it anyway. Did I mention that the muffin I am eating is really really good.
My friend Samira and I went out for desserts last night at Montana's. We had an awesome time and we got to talk about a lot of stuff that we don't usually talk about. Even though Samira is muslim, she still holds many of the same values I do on sex, drinking etc. it was really awesome to have a conversation with her to realize that even though we don't believe in the same God that we still have so many things in common.

It certainly has been a while since I last posted. I just thought I would fill you in on some of the details of my life :D

I finally got a hold of the woman from Study Buddy and got myself a position. I am helping out in a Grade One classroom. Not quite what I was looking for but hey beggars can't be choosers right.
I have crazy tests next week but I have started studying...EARLY...which is a feat for me so I am quite proud and hopefully I won't be an insane mess Friday of next week
I am pumped it is less than a week till my birthday. The freaky thing only ten more years until I am as old as Keith.
Speaking of Keith...if you are reading this I saw you driving your truck this morning while I was on the bus was going to wave but you wouldn't have seen me anyways cursed tinted windows (Boooo...)

The Study Buddy program came to Grant MacEwan today to sign up those in the field of Education to help out in classrooms in their area. I was so pumped to do it this year. I had the time and am in a good place this semester to help out. I was so excited because I was trying to get into my old elementary school. Perfect, it is close to home and I know most of the teachers from when I was a student there myself. I can only help out in the afternoons though because I have school until 12:30 ish everyday. I went to talk to one of the teachers this afternoon about helping out in her class and she is my favorite teacher that I have ever had. She said that she wasn't going to need any help in the afternoon because she already had an aide and that her principal hadn't asked her if her class could be down on the list. I am bummed, I was so looking forward to learning from her there is nothing I can do I guess

Beth, Chrissy and I spent Friday night watching Janelle get kicked off Big Brother 6 (Sad moment) and after Chrissy left Bethany and I spent sometime playing board games. One we happened to play was Disney Monopoly. We played and I bought as much as I could (I am kind of a hog) and one of them happened to be The Rescuers. That square was Bethany FAVORITE square and she enjoyed visiting it so much that she went there over and over again. The only problem was that she was staying in the penthouse of the castle I owned.
